1999/2010 – Schools in the South

Schooling is one of the main objectives of our association.

Since the early years, much of our efforts have also been directed at building school facilities that would allow children to attend school even in peripheral areas where the Burkinabe state had difficulty investing.

Aware of the impossibility of solving the problem of the construction and management of school facilities outside the big cities, the Burkina Faso government opened up to aid from humanitarian associations that offered to build schools.

With the approval of the local authorities, we started and then completed the construction of two schools in the towns of Cincancè and Ouargaye, which are located a few kilometres from the border with Togo.

From Ouagadouguou it is a good 350 kilometres that has only recently been paved, whereas in earlier years it was a dirt track.

After about seven to eight hours of travelling through the red dust and shaking, perhaps after travelling in the pickup truck, you were greeted by the warmth of the children who were always ready to party with their Italian friends who brought bread and nutella.
The first time I visited the schools, I was struck by the great gratitude that the parents of the children, gathered for our visit, reserved for us.
At present, the schools are in operation and collect around 400 children from neighbouring villages. Every year, the association finances some special projects.
